Doctoral Researcher Anni Antola finishing the memristors with an electron beam evaporator (IMAGE)
Caption
Memristors are fabricated at the Wihuri Physical Laboratory in the Department of Physics at the University of Turku, Finland. The GCMO compound is used to produce ceramic pellets that are deposited by pulses of high energy laser light and the resulting vapour is condensed as a thin film. Next, conductor wires are added on the films. In a clean room, the films are treated by Doctoral Researcher Anni Antola to add a layer of gold, insulation, and aluminium. In the photo, Antola finishes the memristors with an electron beam evaporator, i.e. a final layer of aluminium is evaporated on top of the other layers.
