Associate Professor TAN Swee Ching (left), Mr QU Hao (right) and their team from the National University of Singapore have developed a novel aerogel (black sponge-like material) that is highly efficient in absorbing water vapour directly from the air and is able to quickly release freshwater from the material without requiring external energy sources.
