Vaginal infections can be divided into bacterial, fungal, and parasitic infections based on their causative pathogens. The excellent properties of hydrogels include many key properties such as biocompatibility, biodegradability, swelling, porous structure, mucoadhesion, responsiveness, in addition to the previously mentioned ones, and these special physicochemical properties give them great potential for application in the treatment of PID.
