Self-assembly of electronic components (IMAGE) North Carolina State University Caption Researchers have demonstrated a new technique, called D-Met, for self-assembling electronic devices. The proof-of-concept work was used to create diodes and transistors, and paves the way for self-assembling more complex electronic devices without relying on existing computer chip manufacturing techniques. This image shows D-Met fabricated patterns produce components for potential use in microelectromechanical systems (MEMS). Credit Julia J. Chang Usage Restrictions Image credit must be given.
