Axons from AgRP neurons, in red, innervate oxytocin neurons, in green, in the PVH. Neuronal activity of AgRP neurons is required for normal targeting of their axons to oxytocin neurons, as well as for the development of axonal projections from the oxytocin neurons to the brainstem. The inset shows a high-magnification, 3D rendering of AgRP terminals innervating oxytocin neurons in the PVH.
