Prospects for African swine fever virus(ASFV) research using Red river hog macrophage-derived cell lines (IMAGE)
Caption
Domestic pigs infected with ASFV exhibit symptoms, but Red river hogs infected with ASFV are asymptomatic. This may be related to the in vitro cell culture model showing that ASFV proliferation was far less vigorous in RZJ/IBM cell cultures compared to IPKM cell cultures. Therefore, detailed comparative analysis of the differential responses between these two cell lines is expected to contribute to the elucidation of the molecular mechanisms underlying ASF onset and the development of ASF control technology.
