Deborah Mascalzoni (IMAGE) Eurac Research Caption Deborah Mascalzoni is an associate professor of biomedical ethics at the Center for Ethics and Bioethics Research at Uppsala University and head of the Eurac Research group that deals with ethical, legal, and social implications of research, ELSI (Ethical, Legal, and Social Issues/Implications). She pioneered work on dynamic informed consent and ethical research back in the early 2000s. She is the first author of a paper on ten years of dynamic consent in the CHRIS study, published in the Nature Group’’s European Journal of Human Genetics. This paper earned her the GertJan van Ommen Citation Award in 2024. Deborah Mascalzoni is the only Italian representative on the World Health Organization’’s Working Group on Genetic Data Privacy.
