Scientists from The First Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University have developed a novel bioengineered system using membrane self-assembly to create neural stem cell-derived oxidative phosphorylating artificial organelles (SAOs). These artificial organelles are designed as a potential replacement therapy for neural stem cells (NSCs) in treating central nervous system disorders, offering a new pathway for mitochondrial and energy metabolism restoration.
