Research Overview Diagram (IMAGE) Keio University Caption A study using organoids derived from patients' pancreatic cancer tissues revealed that a subset of highly aggressive form of pancreatic cancer, called adenosquamous carcinoma, develop from a less aggressive ductal adenocarcinoma through identity switching. Tumor hypoxia mediates this ductal-to-squamous cell identity switching through epigenetic control, which could be used as a therapeutic target to treat aggressive pancreatic cancers.
