Roman WFI in Clean Room (IMAGE) NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center Caption This photo shows the Wide Field Instrument for NASA’s Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope arriving at the big clean room at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center. About the size of a commercial refrigerator, this instrument will help astronomers explore the universe’s evolution and the characteristics of worlds outside our solar system. Unlocking these cosmic mysteries and more will offer a better understanding of the nature of the universe and our place within it. Alt text: Front shot of the Roman Wide Field Instrument. It is covered in silver foil-like material and housed within a dull gray hexagonal structure. There are people in head-to-toe, white cleanroom suits working on either side of the instrument. In the background, you can see a second story window that is looking into the clean room, and large light blue scaffolding that goes up to the ceiling.
