The (400) surface exhibited the most potent internal electric field, facilitating the migration of holes towards the –COOH active site on the catalyst surface and being spatially separated from the photogenerated electrons, consequently promoting challenging water oxidation reactions and hindering rapid recombination, thereby explaining why porphyrin photocatalysts with exposed (400) surfaces exhibit the highest rate of H2O2 generation.
