The arrows in the images above indicate eosinophils, CD177-positive neutrophils, and CD40L-positive T cells. Histological or tissue healing is associated with favorable outcomes in patients with ulcerative colitis (UC). However, its association with intestinal immune cell infiltration is unclear. Now, a new Chinese Medical Journal study explores the relationship between activated immune cells and histological healing in UC, and highlights a novel ICEI for the prediction of disease outcomes.
