High genetic similarity in pathogenic E. coli isolated from urine and vagina of women with recurrent cystitis

A dendrogram based on pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) of 14 E. coli patient samples showed seven pairs of strains with a clonal similarity of more than 89%, and four pairs were 100% identical.
