Switching and combining different antibody isotypes can boost their therapeutic effect (IMAGE)
Caption
A study by researchers from Japan has revealed that the simultaneous administration of two antibodies with different isotypes targeting a specific membrane protein produced a synergistic effect. This leads to the clustering of the protein on the membrane followed by ingestion by the cell. The approach can thus help boost the anti-tumor potential of a drug payload attached to one of the antibodies by ensuring its internalization by the target cells.
