A simple method to measure nano/microplastic concentrations in soil (IMAGE)

A team of researchers has developed a novel and simple method to measure the concentration of nano/microplastics in soils using spectroscopy at two wavelengths. The novelty of this method is that it does not require the soil to be separated in order to detect the N/MPs and can measure N/MPs at sizes as small as ≤1 µm. Moreover, using a combination of two wavelengths helps negate the influence of soil particles and other leaching components inside the soil suspension.
