Mode of Action of IMB001 and RHP (IMAGE)
Caption
Cartoon depicting iron metabolism in macrophages, NF-κB activation via TLR2 signaling enhances Lipocalin 2 (LCN2) production which enhances uptake of extracellular iron into macrophages, labile iron can be stably stored by ferritin inside the cells. Labile iron pool is also expanded by ROS induced hemeoxygenase-1 (HO-1) which breaks heme to labile iron and releases CO and biliverdin. Cells can release iron via iron transporter ferroportin (Nature Immunology volume 25, pages790–801,2024).
