The above representative microscope images showcase ultra-fine bridges, a kind of abnormal link between chromosomes that causes catastrophic genetic instability. These bridges, composed of entangled DNA, were observed in human cells lacking FIGNL1, cementing its role in the proper regulation of RAD51.
