Wnt inhibitor impact on cancer cells (IMAGE)
Caption
Duke-NUS scientists show that FBXW7-mutant cancers are resistant to Wnt inhibitors by comparing the impact Wnt inhibitor ETC-159 has on cancer cells with and without FBXW7 mutation. In cancer cells with non-mutated FBXW7, administering ETC-159 forces fast growing cancer cells to develop into more mature cells (measured by the level of mucin expression, which is captured in blue), slowing their growth and the spread of the tumour (left column). However, when the gene is mutated (middle and right columns), the inhibitor has no such effect.
