This image shows the "sink-source" dynamic between host bacterium (Schaalia odontolytica XH001) and lytic phage LC001. This dynamic is caused by the co-existence of phage-sensitive XH001 and the phage-resistant XH001 subpopulation, which forms episymbiosis with the nanosized TM7x.
