'Artificial muscles' help fractured leg bones heal better

At this year's Hannover Messe, a research team of engineers led by Professors Stefan Seelecke and Paul Motzki at Saarland University will be demonstrating a prototype smart orthopaedic implant that makes use of artificial muscle fibres. Susanne-Marie Kirsch (l.) and Felix Welsch (r.) are doctoral research students and are working on the prototype implant.
