T cell activation giving rise to progeny (VIDEO)
Caption
This movie shows a single naive CD8 T cell. a type of white blood cell involved in immunity activating in response to stimulation through the T cell receptor, with a yellow fluorescent reporter protein marking expression of the transcription factor TCF1. The activated cell grows and proliferates rapidly, giving rise to progeny that are heterogeneous in their regulation of TCF1. The authors investigate the mechanisms of this heterogeneous response that underlies memory and effector T cell decision making. The running timer on the lower right of the movie is time in hours.
