Mutations in the IDO2 gene may contribute to autism spectrum disorders by altering synaptic development

Researchers found that mice in which the IDO2 gene was silenced exhibited behaviors consistent with autism spectrum disorder. Further experiments shed light on the possible underlying biochemical mechanisms behind these abnormal behaviors.
