Creating a C4-like vein pattern in rice by manipulating SHORT ROOT and auxin levels (IMAGE)
Caption
Overexpression of SHR enhance mesophyll cell division, resulting in a substantial reduction in leaf vein density. However, exogenous auxin treatments led to an increase in leaf vein density. Notably, a leaf vein distribution pattern resembling that of C4 plants were successfully induced by simultaneously elevating SHR and auxin levels in rice leaves.
