Napkin diagram (IMAGE) Desert Research Institute Caption The “napkin diagram” graph shows future climate change scenarios under four different strategies: 1) business as usual, or no reduction of greenhouse gas emissions (red line); 2) aggressive cuts in emissions (black line); 3) aggressive cuts in emissions combined with CO2 removal (green line); and 4) emissions cuts, CO2 removal, and climate intervention techniques that alter the amount of solar radiation trapped in Earth’s atmosphere (blue line). Only scenario 4 keeps global temperatures within the limit outlined in the Paris Agreement of 1.5°C, which will avoid the worst ecological and human impacts of global warming.
