In this review, three branches of tribotronics that address the challenges of TENG by incorporating semiconductor materials and technologies are introduced, such as tribovoltaic effect, triboelectric field effect, and triboelectric energy management, which demonstrates the promising prospects of tribotronics in the development of new functional devices and self-powered microsystems for various fields.
