Birds disperse eggs of stick insects they eat

Relationship patterns prove that flightless stick insects can overcome vast distances across geographical obstacles. The only plausible explanation for this is that the eggs of gravid females, when they are eaten by birds, survive the passage through the digestive tract and are thus dispersed to far-away places.
